Congratulations to Munib Bastien and the children at Fondation Foyer des Enfants having been selected by the HORP board of directors for building of a new 24 x 40 structure for his orphanage as our way of saying thank you for all of his participation in the UHOA. Mr. Bastien has been working with UHOA board members to outline goals and responsibilities for the organization’s success in the coming years. Mr. Bastien resides on a small piece of land he purchased in Bon Repos where his small orphanage exists in a few tents and shacks. He also has ambitions of filling his school with children from the local village so that children in the orphanage can make friends with children from other families. They have a pit latrine and a contaminated water supply for the time being but when we are finished, there will be a new water treatment system, a compost toilet, a raised bed vegetable garden and a new structure. See more photos below.
Drawings for the new building can be found here: FFdE Blueprints
There are currently 11 children living on the site with expectations to house 25 children within the year.

Meeting at the local supply store to discuss acceptable building materials and to get the director involved in the construction process allows us to pass on ownership of the project from the beginning.
